Three records broken at Apex Trust Sprint
23 March 2103
The sun shone and the weather was warm for the first Apex Trust sprint of the season.  The weather and the promise of some dry conditions ensured a good turnout and a good crowd of spectators.

They were not disappointed as there was some good close racing in both the car and the bike classes and three records were broken.

The first record to fall was to Mick Lancashire. He improved on his old record in the Modified limited production car class with his re engined Westfield Hayabusa with a time of 12.55 seconds. Mick also ran his Avon Sprint in the two litre sports car class but despite setting a very fast 12 second dead time could not get near the class record for this class.

Tom Walker had a very good day in his newly completed awesome Mitsubishi Evo V1. This car looked stunning and has in excess of 600bp on tap. This was put to good effect as Tom destroyed the existing class record in the unlimited Modified production car class with a time of 11.61 seconds.

Nick Wood, the club’s beach Racing Chairman was on good form on his Holeshot Signs Honda 250 as he set a new record in the Super Moto 125 to 250cc class with a 14.47 second run.

Elsewhere the largest car class,  unlimited Road Going Production car class saw a good battle with Tim Alderson in a BMW M3 holding off Sue Fossey in Subaru Impreza to take the class.

Fastest car of the day was set in the Sports Libra Class by Len Amy in his very impressive Mallock MK2 with a time of 11.05 seconds. Fastest bike was Paul Traylen on his Hacquoil and Cook Hayabusa in the unlimited Bike class. Paul’s fastest time of the day was 10.26 seconds.

Ben Le Lay on his Suzuki GSXR enjoyed a good tussle with Dave Levee on a Yamaha R1 in the biggest Bike class of the day, the up to 1 litre class. Ben ran out a worthy winner with his best time of 11.27 seconds.

In the run what u brung class none of the 14 other runners were able to catch last year’s champion Stephan Ward on his Kawasaki ZX 998. Stephen ‘s best time of the day was 10.93 seconds just ahead of Robbie Hannah on a Honda CBR 1000 with a time of 11.14.

The club would like to thank St Johns ambulance and Normandy Rescue who were on hand and the sponsor, Apex trust.
