One record broken, two new Records set at first JMCLCC Valla Sprint
01 April 2017
• AprilSprint2017_OffRuns.pdf

The Valla/JMCLCC sprint provided an entertaining start to the JMCLCC Speed season as competitors bedded in new machinery and recalled racing skills that had laid dormant over the long winter months.
Warm Spring sunshine encouraged a strong turn out and a large number of spectators.

Chris Fox on his Gilera Runner in the Scooter up to 250cc class recorded the only record broken on the day with a 16.93 second run and a terminal velocity of 74.22 mph.  This may not seem quick compared with some of the other racing bikes times but scooters generally do not lend themselves to racing and to squeeze a sub 17 second time out of his bike shows great skill and determination on Chris’s part. Judging by the interest in the pits in this class it will not be long before we see more of these machines competing.

Ian Le Louarn set new record in the Road going specialist car class in a Subaru Impreza after a battle with Carol Lloyd with whom he was sharing the car. His best time was a 14.69 which just piped Carols 14.72 set on her last run.

The only kart runner was Ashley Bonhomme in a Sodi Kart and his fastest time of 13.64 seconds set the first record in the Max senior 125 class.

Fastest car of the day was Andrew Allenet in his 3 litre Rault racing car with a 11.17 second run and a terminal velocity of 120.58mph. Fastest Saloon was Kevin Rault ijn his Ford Escort Rally car with a rapid 12.59 second run.

However the bikes held sway on the day with many sub 12 second runs being recorded across all the larger capacity classes.

Fastest bike time of the day was 11.17seconds by Rob Lloyd on his Beb fb 10000ccR which exactly matched the fastest car time! That time was good enough to take up to 1 litre class ahead of Alan Bertram on a Honda Firestorm.

Best bike battle of the day was between Alan Lloyd on an ALL Services R6 and J P Fidrmuc on a Triumph Triple Street in the up to 750cc class. Alans best time was an 11.57 second run which just pipped JP’s 11.63 seconds run.

The young riders also had a good day with Josh Troy winning the up to 85cc class on his KTM with a 14.35 second run which was not quite enough to take the class record.  A special mention to Kaden Rault on his first ever sprint who recorded a very creditable best run of 15.65 seconds.

The run what you brung classes were well supported and congratulations to newcomers Elliot Gomes who set the fastest car time and Elliot Bardon who set the fastest bike time.

The club would like to thank St Johns ambulance and Normandy Rescue who were on hand and the sponsor, Valla. The next sprint is on 1st July.
